Steve trained in paediatrics around the North East of England, with extended spells in New Zealand and Australia. He has been a consultant paediatrician in Aberdeen since 2003, working as a general paediatrician and a respiratory paediatrician. He was awarded an honorary chair in 2017 by the university of Aberdeen. His research interest include early origins of disease, monitoring asthma and linkage of routinely acquired data. Steve became RCPCH president in March 2024.
