ECR day keynote Alder Hey Children's Hospital

Prof Dan Perry is NIHR Research Professor and Consultant Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon at Alder Hey Children's Hospital, Liverpool. He leads theĀ TOTS Research Collaborative - a national portfolio of multicentre randomised trials that represents one of the largest coordinated children's surgical trial programmes internationally. His trials include FORCE, SCIENCE, CRAFFT, BigBOSS, BASIS, ODD SOCKS and more than a dozen others, collectively reshaping UK clinical practice, national policy and NICE pathways.

What sets Dan's work apart is his commitment to making research genuinely accessible - using animations, cartoons and simplified processes so that children, parents and clinicians can all engage meaningfully. He holds national roles as BOA Specialty Lead for Paediatric Orthopaedic Clinical Trials and Specialty Editor for the Bone & Joint Journal, and his growing interests include the development and evaluation of AI tools in clinical practice.
